Just got home from what was a surprising and delightful long weekend. The Pat Rogers Memorial Revolver Roundup, held at legendary Gunsite Academy in Paulden, Arizona. I have long held that a good revolver and knowledge of how to run it, is a fine choice for a defense gun, but the ire and wry comments you get for saying so can be off putting. Not at this event. Each instructor, and the names are well known, gave insightful and historical background on what they were teaching and why they were teaching it. Darryl Bolke's presentations on Pat Rogers personal guns, the history and reason for the famous (or infamous) "Fitz" Special, and the actual guns used in the famous killings of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and his assembled team would have been worth the trip all by themselves. I have already registered for next years event and will have my gear and speedloaders ready to go.
