The Rainy Season!
Gunsite and much of Arizona was blessed with a wonderful rainy season. The landscape went from brown tinder to a growing green with near daily rains. The fortune continued as the rains often fell at times that did not disturb classes. Some were so heavy that we lost three (3) culverts in the Donga. Fire is not as great a risk and campers in the Gunsite campground can cook over that open fire or charcoal again!
September has us roaring back with multiple courses. Labor Day Week has a double 250 Pistol, the ever-popular Battle Rifle, the 1911 Armorer Course, Tactical Tracking with David Scott-Donelan and a private Scout Rifle Course. (That’s just week #1!) We carry on with a couple of media events, additional tutorials, a private Church Defense Course, 270 Rifle, Concealed Carry Pistol, Extreme Long Range Rifle, the Glock Advanced Armorer Course . . . . Whew . . .
We also have the first 250 Pistol Course at the Royal Range in Nashville TN, an Indiana 150 Pistol and a Tennessee Close Quarters Pistol. (There is still room in some of these courses if you are interested.) Go to the website and get the information and enroll.
October flies by as well. There is a double 250 Pistol, a double 350 Pistol (a few remaining seats in this popular course) and a private class the week preceding the Gunsite Alumni Shoot (GAS Match) on October 6. Defensive 3 Gun, 499 Pistol and BRAVE (Ballistic Response Against Violent Encounters) follow GAS. October continues with 260 Shotgun, Seasoned Citizen 250 Pistol, the new Instructor Development, Precision Rifle 7, Ladies’ Pistol and Ladies’ Pistol 2, another double 250 Pistol, the new AR Series Armorers course, additional media events and several private courses.
These multiple courses are a clue that the Fall is some of the best weather at Gunsite.
Have you enrolled in the GAS Match yet? The spots are going fast. The prize table will be the biggest one yet. Sheriff Jim Wilson, gun scribe, Gunsite graduate and cowboy singer has graciously agreed to come “sing for his supper” preceding the evening BBQ. It will be grand entertainment if you have not heard him croon. We will also be announcing a new generous sponsor soon as well as our regulars such as Blade-tech, The Wilderness, Simply Rugged, HAWG Holsters, Remington, Accuracy International, Vang Comp, S&W, Mossberg, and more. Stay tuned .
Some good news for travelers. United Airlines now flies out of Prescott Regional Airport/Love Field to Los Angeles and Denver. (http://www.prcairport.com/passengers/book-a-flight/) Instead of flying into Phoenix, you can fly into Prescott, rent a car and head to Gunsite!
Don’t rest on your laurels during the Fall. It is a great time to get out and practice in the cooler weather and turning leaves. Will you be ready when the miscreant decides that you are the target?
We look forward to seeing you (back) at Gunsite.
DVC,
Ken
