Spring seems to be slow in arrival in much of the Republic. It has been a beautiful February in the High Desert at Gunsite. We have had Basic Pistol (250), Shotgun (260), Shotgun Advanced Tactical Problems (SATP), and General Rifle (270) classes so far, with much more to come. When is your next trip to Gunsite?
Are you planning your summer yet? We believe we offer a family opportunity that is unmatched anywhere: Our 250 Basic Pistol for young Americans alongside a 250 Pistol class for adults! Have you been looking for the Summer Camp your “Teen” will love and learn life long and life-saving responsibilities? While your Teen is in his or her 250, you can take your 250 or Basic Carbine (223) course. If you opt for the “family camp” opportunity, you get a discount on your tuition. Please contact Karen at 928-636-4565 to reserve your seats in the class. Remember we have a 5 Star Campground with tent and RV camping, a covered porch area, laundry, kitchenette and showers.
Gunsite is now on TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g31304-d7701165-Reviews-Gunsite_Academy_Day_Classes-Paulden_Arizona.html). If you have attended Gunsite and would be interested in posting a review, please do! More good Americans need to learn how to protect themselves and their families.
Gunsite is also adding an additional Ladies’ Pistol Course June 8-10, 2015. This is an opportunity for a woman to learn how to responsibly handle a pistol to protect herself and her family. This class is not “softened” for the ladies in any way. Rather, it is tailored to suit their differences and strengths over their male counterpart. Have you read Kipling’s The Female of the Species? (“The female of the species is more deadly than the male.”)
Speaking of the female of the species, Gunsite is now a “Destination Wedding.” We had the honor and pleasure of hosting and performing a Valentine’s Day Wedding for recent 250 graduates Mike and Audrey Esser. (See photo.) Witnessing the nuptials were Gunsite Owners Buz and Sonja Mills and Mrs. Janell Cooper. It was an honor to be part of their ceremony.
If you are here for the Hunter Prep courses, we have new game animals on the Safari and North American Game Walk. Remember you need to prepare yourself as well as your rifle for that once in a lifetime hunting opportunity.
The Oscars typically ignored “American Sniper” as many said they would. However, the American people spoke loud and clear with the attendance figures. Gunsite is proud to work with many of our military and law enforcement snipers in our Long Range Rifle, Precision Rifle and Extreme Long Range Rifle courses. What we do helps keep good people alive.
Tennessee is back on the Off Site Course offerings. Rangemaster Ron Fielder has a host of training opportunities. If you have longed to experience Gunsite, but couldn’t make the trek to the High Desert of Arizona, you might consider rural Nashville, TN.
Have you visited us on Facebook lately? If not, there are updates to the page almost daily. Stay abreast of what is happening at Gunsite and around the world. Remember to “Like” us as well. Share with your friends and make a liberal nervous . . . . .
A few dates to remember:
March 8: For those of you needing to “Spring Forward” with your clocks . . . . We at Gunsite celebrate by leaving our clocks alone.
March 17: Celebrate St. Patricks’ Day . . . . Jameson’s for one and all!
March 21: Long awaited by those hit hard by the Winter . . . The first day of Spring. Speaking of which: Do you have your “Urban Camouflage” from the Pro Shop?
March 29: What is the significance of that date? March 29th is the104th Anniversary of the Colt 1911 pistol being adopted by the U.S Army. Gunsite had the privilege of hosting Colt for the 100th Anniversary class for the 1911 in 2011. It was quite the event with Colt and the NRA bringing in the NRA Historical Museum, their historians and a plethora of historical pistols from their collections. It was so popular that the one (1) 1911 250 class grew into three (3) 1911 classes. Remember to celebrate accordingly on March 29! How to celebrate? Take a youngster out to shoot!
We shall celebrate all these dates with 223, 250, and 350 courses throughout March!
We hope to see you at Gunsite this year!
DVC,
Ken
