Ground Hog Day
January just disappeared at Gunsite. It seems we just were celebrating (Well, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time) on New Years Eve. Hard to believe it is February 2023.
SHOT Show was a rousing success for Gunsite. The official release of the new Gunsite Glock Service Pistol (GGSP) was grand. We attended Industry Day at the Range with Glock speaking about the new pistol and allowing media to shoot it. The Press Conference on Day 1 of SHOT was well attended and I lost count on how many interviews we did. I did not lose count of how many miles I walked: 51.2 according to my step counter. Whew . . . Not only did we spend time at the Glock, Davidson’s and Holosun Booth promoting the pistol, but we had much other business. With the new Pro Shop under construction, we met with current and prospective new vendors wanting space in the new shop. (4900 square feet!) We also saw and visited with more Gunsite family than I can count. Thanks to all the Gunsite staff for their hard work and shoe leather during the show.
This week our friend and long-time legendary gun scribe Dick Williams brought his cadre of writers and friends to focus on the new GGSP, the 150th anniversary of the .45 Colt cartridge and some lever guns. It was a grand week. Look for stories to abound in the gun press and social media.
The pace quickens in February and into March at Gunsite. 556 Carbine, 250 Pistol, Nashville 250 Pistol, Seasoned Citizen 250 Pistol, 260 Shotgun, and 350 Pistol plus additional media events. March clearly comes in like a lion with more courses, including the AK-47 Armorer and Operator Class.
If you are planning on attending a 250 Pistol Class and have limited or no experience, watch for a new class offering. The “Day Zero” course will be a one (1) day course on the Sunday preceding your 250 Pistol. It will be a very basic course introducing you to types of guns, holsters, and what we do. It also will include how to load, unload and present the pistol. For those who have not experienced shooting on a line of shooters, you will experience this. The round count will only be 50-100 rounds. It is much of what we cover on Monday morning in the 250, but at a much slower pace so it isn’t as overwhelming to the new shooter. The goal is to make the new shooter more comfortable in this new environment and have an even better Gunsite experience. Price will be $200 plus ammunition. First opportunity will be March 5 for the students attending the March 6 250 Pistol Classes.
The GGSP is selling at a quick pace. We have not received all of our pistols yet, so if you have one ordered with a specific serial number, please try to be patient. (Easy for me to say as I’ve been carrying mine since SHOT Show …) If you have not ordered one yet, contact Lindy or Susan in the Pro Shop. Maybe you can still get a requested API serial number.
If you are a follower of Gunsite on social media, please feel free to share posts with those you deem worthy. If you see me on Facebook Live, please feel free to interact with me. I try to watch the screen and comment on folks I see pop up. No promises, but it can be fun!
Enough for today.
When are you coming (back) to Gunsite?
DVC,
Ken
