March flew by like the high winds at Gunsite yesterday. (50+ mph gusts). We persevered with classes despite losing power for several hours.
If you follow us on Facebook, I’ve begun a new contest. Send us a photo of where you are that also shows the Gunsite Raven sticker. (Hat, shirt, tattoo, etc.). It must be a current photo, not one of several years ago. My farthest one was St. Lucia this week. Once I decide when the contest concludes, I’ll use Google maps to determine how many miles as the Raven flies for furthest distance and send a fun prize. So, send me those pics!
This week has been 223 Carbine, 250 Pistol with Pistol Mounted Optics and a special course for Ruger Industry ladies.
Next week is Close Quarters Pistol, Instructor Development, a tutorial class and our industry partners Guns and Ammo TV will be at the Gunsite Ranch. Late in the week, Buz, Marketing Director Shari LeGate and I head to Indianapolis for the NRA Annual Meeting. It is a great opportunity for us to meet up with vendors and Gunsite Family. Keep a sharp eye out for us and come say hello!
The following weekend we begin a fun long-time “family reunion” that turns into a great shooting course. This family has been attending at least 20 years annually. We also have the Two Day Pistol Carbine Range Day. (Range Days are the greatest bargain at Gunsite!). Sunday April 16 is our next “Day Zero” class. (Day Zero precedes a 250 and is designed for the true novice shooter so their Monday won’t be quite as intimidating.
Later in April we have a Pocket Pistol Class at Royal Range in Nashville, a double 250, a 350 Pistol, Seasoned Citizen CQP, PR7, additional media events, more private courses.
The new buildings at Gunsite are proceeding at a rapid rate. We hope to have instructors in the new Bunkhouse in 6-8 weeks. The new Office and Pro Shop will not be far behind. This frees up the current Pro-Shop to return to its roots: Another classroom!
Student numbers continue to grow at record rates. If you haven’t enrolled in that one (or more) special class, you might get on it as it may fill!
That’s it for now from your correspondent on the road, somewhere in the Caribbean, awaiting the delivery of a cool beverage and then headed to the cigar area as I can’t bring contraband back CONUS.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at NRA.
But, in the meantime, When are you coming (back) to Gunsite!
