GPC-101 Introductory Performance
NOTE: By applying for the GPC 101 course you recognize it is not a beginner level class. Further, you also acknowledge that if you cannot score a 40 or less on the Wilson 5×5 drill you will be disqualified from the class with option of partial refund or class credit.
The Wilson 5×5 Drill can be found HERE.
The Test will be performed within the first hour of Training Day One. (TD1). No Exceptions.
The introduction to the Performance Center series of classes. Performance shooting is the mechanical manipulation of the firearm coupled with unconscious application of marksmanship fundamentals. Performance shooting focuses on optimizing shooting techniques, including grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control, to achieve consistent and measurable results.
This class will emphasize control (accuracy), and efficiency (speed) in engaging targets under various conditions.
The term “performance” does not equate to the word “competition”. It is a common misconception they are synonymous. They are not. The GPC does not teach Tactics, nor does it teach Competition. It stands firmly on neutral ground and provides only performance-based firearms training.
At the highest levels of performance there are subprocesses supporting the primary shooting process. The GPC 101 Course introduces you to the world of performance shooting, what is the primary shooting process, what are the subprocesses to facilitate optimal efficiency and control, and how to drill down to the granular level of your shooting skills to locate, isolate and eliminate any unnecessary input that is detrimental to your efficiency (resulting in speed) and control (resulting in accuracy).
GPC 101: Training Objectives
- Rapid Deployment – under pressure of increasing time constraints, the student will be trained in the required subprocesses of physical mechanics, mental focus, visual and intentional processes required to execute an efficient presentation commensurate with challenging shooting industry performance standards.
- Optimized Fire Control – utilizing current performance standards, methods and practices, the student will be presented with the mental and mechanical sub processes required to facilitate optimum fire control commensurate with challenging shooting industry performance standards.
- Rapid Recovery and Realignment – the student will be trained to apply the necessary fire control skills needed to deliver fast and accurate first and follow up shots under challenging and incremental time pressure.
- Rapid Transition and Reacquisition – the student will be trained to apply their newly developed skills to execute multiple horizontal and diagonal target transitions producing accurate hits in demanding time requirements. commensurate with recommended shooting industry performance standards.
GPC 101 – What to Expect
- Skill Sets – Training to develop your shooting skills well beyond your current comfort zones and pushing your skills envelope to the very edge.
- Methodology – Train by pushing to failure and develop your skills beyond the failure point. There is no greater teacher than experience.
- Precision – Data collection and analysis are an integral part of performance training. Leveraging statistics to identify any gaps and inefficiencies helps you to observe progress and plot a trajectory toward exceptional shooting.
- Diagnostics – The course is designed to produce the ability to self-diagnose performance gaps so ongoing skills development can occur in application beyond this program of instruction.
- Sustainment – Performance shooting at the elite level is an extremely perishable skill. The course provides the student with those tools needed for long-term skills sustainment alongside ongoing performance development.
*Important Note: Score of less than 40 on Wilson 5x5 drill (Test will be performed with the first hour of Training Day One)
Just returned from the inaugural Gunsite Performance Center 101 course. It was great! Not doctrine, and certainly not competition focused. Goal was to raise the performance level of each shooter by 15% as evidenced by multiple Wilson 5x5 runs....
This class is not scheduled again this year or
has been completely sold out.
