Advanced Precision Rifle
NEW FOR 2024!
Advanced Precision Rifle is a continuation of the Precision Rifle 7 class. Students will learn to calibrate and utilize ballistic software and laser rangefinders. Field problems will be more complex and require shooting from a variety of positions on multiple targets under time pressure. Techniques for self-spotting and shot corrections, field zeroing, PBZ for full range engagements and shots through restricted openings will all be put into practice. Extended range moving targets, moving platforms and the use of night vision devices (I2 and thermal) round out the class. This is an open framework; students should come prepared to discuss and work on any issues they have in creating a solution for complex ballistic problems.
Round count is 500 Match ammo.
Physical Difficulty Level: Moderate, but students should be capable of getting and out of knelling, sitting and prone positions).
PRECISION RIFLE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Unlike most other classes at Gunsite, PR7 and XLR have very specific requirements for suitable equipment. PR7 and XLR demand equipment of the highest quality, with some specific attributes. These classes are NOT Long-Range Hunting classes. The skills, tactics and equipment used in these classes, does not correspond with practical hunting skills, tactics, and equipment. This brief is intended to help in the selection of equipment for these classes. If you have any questions about equipment for these classes, please call the office and ask to speak with one of the instructors for the class.
Precision Rifles and Spotting Scopes are also available for rent in the case you do not have them or prefer not to travel with them.
