Advanced Carbine Applications (Formerly BRAVE – Carbine)
The carbine is an excellent weapon for accomplishing your primary defensive goal of evading or escaping violence when it is directed against you or your loved ones. This class presents the philosophies and concepts, including specific tactics, techniques, and procedures, for defending yourself or others when faced with unavoidable and extreme violence, and when your carbine is accessible. Designed for the skilled practitioner, this course emphasizes key practices for efficient and effective employment of the defensive carbine in a variety of realistic scenarios and environments.
Mindset, marksmanship, and gun handling are the hallmarks of the Gunsite Academy experience, and this class is no different. Legal and effective use of the defensive carbine is the primary course goal, followed by developing and employing techniques and procedures which support the employment of the carbine. The training also provides concepts and training in working in 2-person teams while utilizing the carbine as the primary defensive firearm. In order to enhance learning, this course includes significant use of simulators and scenarios to drive rapid decision making on appropriate responses to threats of violence. Included are discussions and actions for the aftermath of actual employment of the carbine in defense of self, and/or, others.
NOTE: This is a very active course, so the attending student should be prepared for significant physical activity.
