Check the Gunsite website at www.gunsite.com, or our course catalog, for ammunition requirements and quantities. The ammunition quantities listed are a suggested minimum. Some classes may exceed this amount and others may not, depending upon class size, skill level, weather and other variables.
Ammunition Packages
Gunsite offers ammunition packages for most of our classes. Pricing is available upon request. We also sell ammunition in the Pro Shop for use in our classes, and we stock the more common calibers used in our training. All of the ammunition we provide or sell is new, factory ammunition. Standard Ammunition
If providing your own factory or reloaded ammunition please ensure that it functions reliably in your firearm(s).
Surplus or foreign military ammunition can often be purchased at bargain prices. Unfortunately, this ammunition may be of poor quality and may not work well in your firearm. We generally recommend against the use of this ammunition.
In some pistols, most notably the Glock, the factory does not recommend the use of lead bullet ammunition. Please be sure to follow any factory warnings with respect to ammunition in your firearms.
Frangible ammunition
We use frangible, lead-free, ammunition in our live-fire simulators. Many of the classes have a frangible ammunition requirement. Please check our website or course catalog for these requirements.
Please note that frangible ammunition is not “practice ammunition”. It is live ammunition with a bullet intended to fragment when striking a hard surface. Frangible ammunition is potentially just as deadly as regular ammunition, and must be treated with the same respect given to other ammunition.
