“This is the Christmas that a war-weary world has prayed for through long and awful years. . . . We meet in the spirit of the first Christmas, when the midnight choir sang the hymn of joy: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Harry Truman, December 24, 1945
“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.”
Winston Churchill
The year at the Gunsite Ranch, celebrating our 40th Anniversary, has been spectacular. There are many, many new Gunsite Family Members bringing “peace on earth” to their homes. The Gunsite Alumni Shoot was the biggest and best ever. With over 235 shooters plus their guests, a grand time was had by all with all taking away awards from the prize table. Another “rejoice” is the new Gunsite Road. If you have not heard, it is paved all the way to Gunsite!
We now look to the New Year and what it brings.
The holidays are the time to spend with friends and family, rejoicing in the Glory of the Season. Make the time to spend with family, to visit with friends, to take a hike, to travel and enjoy life. (Remember to go to the Range as well! Find a young person and take them out to shoot with you.)
Think of our emergency services personnel and military and their families as they are unable to spend their time at home. Keep them in your prayers to be safe and to return home at the end of their shift.
The Gunsite Offices and Ranges will be closed at noon December 23, 2016 through Tuesday morning December 27 so our staff can enjoy the holidays with their families. We will also close at noon December 30 through January 0800 January 2, 2017 for the New Year’s Holiday.
We are grateful for all we have been able to achieve together these 40 years and look forward to what we can achieve in the years ahead. The Gunsite Staff and Family wish you the best of the holiday season.
We close with that noted scholar Linus Van Pelt in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”:
“And they were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'”
