Another month has flown by here at Gunsite. The busier we are, the faster the weeks go by. We continue to have record months of student attendance. We cannot get the new facilities completed quick enough. The new larger bathroom and shower passed another inspection this week and the roof should go on in the next few days. The bunkhouse is getting fine-tuned and should receive certificate of occupancy yet this month and then the first big move happens. Once we occupy the new Office and new Pro Shop, there is some talk of the Great Gunsite Garage Sale. (Well, OK, parking lot sale.) … [Read more...]
Gunsite Mid-May Newsletter
Apologies for the tardiness of our monthly newsletter but saying it has been a whirlwind of work here is not accurate. More like a Midwest tornado. Grab a coffee or beverage, as this one is a bit longer than usual. The young and lovely Mrs. Campbell and I returned from our Caribbean Cruise (although if you followed on social media, I did do some work from the back of the boat. OK, the bar, smoking cigars, but doing work emails and some other writing.) Back a week and Shari (Campbell), Shari (LeGate), Buz and I were off to NRA for almost a week. Grand to be back in my old area of … [Read more...]
Gunsite April Newsletter
March flew by like the high winds at Gunsite yesterday. (50+ mph gusts). We persevered with classes despite losing power for several hours. If you follow us on Facebook, I've begun a new contest. Send us a photo of where you are that also shows the Gunsite Raven sticker. (Hat, shirt, tattoo, etc.). It must be a current photo, not one of several years ago. My farthest one was St. Lucia this week. Once I decide when the contest concludes, I'll use Google maps to determine how many miles as the Raven flies for furthest distance and send a fun prize. So, send me those pics! This week … [Read more...]
March Gunsite Newsletter
March came roaring in like a lion at Gunsite with some interesting weather. We have had a wonderfully wet winter, getting us out of drought for now. However, that also created some challenges for the students in the classes. Some called and asked what we do in inclement weather. Simple answer: We train. We don’t get to pick the weather our fight occurs in. So, when it happens to you on a manicured golf course green and it is sunny and 70 degrees, it will seem easy. A couple from Maui during their 250 class in the snow, graupel and rain had heat packs in every pocket and their shoes. … [Read more...]
Gunsite February Newsletter
Ground Hog Day January just disappeared at Gunsite. It seems we just were celebrating (Well, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time) on New Years Eve. Hard to believe it is February 2023. SHOT Show was a rousing success for Gunsite. The official release of the new Gunsite Glock Service Pistol (GGSP) was grand. We attended Industry Day at the Range with Glock speaking about the new pistol and allowing media to shoot it. The Press Conference on Day 1 of SHOT was well attended and I lost count on how many interviews we did. I did not lose count of how many miles I walked: 51.2 according to my step … [Read more...]
