The Rainy Season – August is well upon us at the Gunsite Ranch and it is unusually green. The rain has blessed us, and punished us, both this year.
A few weeks ago during our Youth 250 Pistol class, we had a monsoon rain that turned us into an island for an hour or so. We also lost two (2) six foot 6’ culverts on the Donga. Think about how much water it takes to move those! Regardless, we soldiered on, the Youth were great and class was completed. Thanks to the parents for sharing their great Americans with us for the week. Thirteen kids was the largest Youth 250 Pistol Class we have had. We have another scheduled for July, 2018.
The 2018 Training Calendar is out on the Gunsite website. (https://www.gunsite.com/events/category/gunsite-classes/) Look to it and see what is in your future! If you are looking for the 350 preceding GAS 2018, I would not wait to enroll. It is usually one of the first to sell out. We hope to begin mailing the paper calendar by late August.
We have a special opportunity for a short time. It is a Gunsite Pistol, a Class, the Ammo Package and a Gunsite clothing and Equipment package for a special price. It can be found here: https://gunsitestore.com/product-category/firearms/
What I’m saying is, you can basically arrive wearing your “foundation garments” and boots and we will have you outfitted. Keep this in mind as a gift package as well.
The Mobile Training Teams at Gunsite continue to be busy. Ron Fielder and Guy Coursey just finished another 250 Pistol course at Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond VA, Dave Harris and Steve Hendricks just completed a 150 Pistol in the Fort Collins Colorado area. (There is a Colorado 123 Carbine in September also with a few seats left!) We have more courses scheduled in Richmond VA, including a 250 Pistol with Crimson Trace. Also, another 150 Pistol Course with Dave Harris and Randy Watt at the Firearms Academy of Seattle is in a few weeks. We also return to the Nashville TN area with a Close Quarters Pistol Course in early September. Gunsite makes the training available to you, regardless of your location in the US.
Have you seen the new Gunsite Lightweight Commander (.45 ACP)? We have been working with Colt for over a year making this pistol happen. It is a fighting pistol in a lightweight, big bore package. https://gunsitestore.com/product/firearms/gunsite-lightweight-commander/
Gunsite Alumni Shoot (GAS) Match is two (2) months away! Did you get enrolled yet? The “social engagement slightly interrupted by gunfire” is always a grand day. Shoot all day in simulator type courses of fire, with Gunsite family members, and great food and a tremendous prize table. What more could you ask for? The Campground has been sold out for months and we are looking at closing the match soon as it is filling up.
Much going on as always. We hope your summer was productive and some quality time was spent on the range. Remember that when a problem occurs, you won’t have time to “warm up” or go back to your car to get your equipment. The fight will take place right now, with the gear you are wearing. So, keep up the solid training and follow the Color Code.
We hope to see you (back) at Gunsite soon.
