April Fools Day! That’s what we see in much of the halls of Congress every day!
But here at the Gunsite Ranch we are ringing in April 1 with 40+ students in the two (2) 250 Pistol courses, a dozen or so in the Close Quarters Pistol with Steve Tarani, about a dozen in the XLR with Cory and Walt . . . As I say, other than that we are sitting in the office shopping on Ebay.
We also are continuing our capital projects with maintenance of the paved road coming to Gunsite and the roads here on the Ranch. So, if you get delayed a few minutes, please be patient and remember what the old dirt roads were like!
You will also see a new garage on the York Range. With the new turning target systems, we are adding turners on York, which needs a building.
Now, let’s get down to business.
What are you doing to stay tuned up with your shooting skills? Shooting is a perishable skill and you need to be doing dry practice if nothing else. If you can’t make the trip to Gunsite, remember we offer three (3) day Pistol and Carbine courses as well as the 250 Pistol class off site. Do you have that friend or family member who wants (and needs) the training but won’t travel far? Take advantage of these opportunities:
Off-Site three-day courses are in the Portland-Seattle area with Pistol (August 16-18), Lebanon Indiana (Just outside Indianapolis) with Carbine (April 12-14) and Pistol (July and September), and the new South Carolina location with Pistol and Carbine (August 23-25 and September).
Our 250 Pistol Course (5 days with Gunsite Instructors) is available May 13-17 at Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond Virginia and at Royal Range in Nashville TN in June and September 22-25).
April continues to jump at the Gunsite Ranch with the popular Ballistic Response Against Violent Encounters (BRAVE), Long Range Precision Rifle (PR7), the new two (2) day Seasoned Citizen Close Quarters Pistol, another double 250 Pistol, a double 350 Pistol, another Extreme Long Range Rifle and Shotgun Range Day.
If you are a lady graduate of our pistol courses, we have a “Ladies’ Pistol Range Day.” (The Range Days are not an “open range,” but a full day of training in the particular discipline.)
The month finishes up with the Concealed Carry Pistol and another Seasoned Citizen 223 Course.
As we plan for a busy May, Gunsite is proud to host the (sold out) Well-Armed Women (TWAW) Arizona Conference. It will be a full day of training with ladies from TWAW Chapters all over Arizona. We also continue with the 250 Pistol courses, requested specialty courses for branches of the military and a member of Congress, Carbine Range Day, 260 Shotgun, the Ladies’ Pistol and Ladies’ Pistol 2, more media events, Pistol Range Days, 499 Pistol, Defensive 3 Gun plus many private courses . . .
Some of these courses are near full, so if you are considering enrollment, don’t wait!
If you have a particular course you would like to see return to the schedule, email our Training Director Dave Hartman (hartman@gunsite.com) soonest as we are working on the 2020 training calendar. No promises, but we will look hard at requests.
Whew . . . We have some busy times coming up.
Buz and I will be in Indianapolis at the NRA Annual Meeting the end of April. We hope to see many of the Gunsite family there. We will be doing “Raven overlook” for those Gunsite hats, shirts, pins, and tattoos.
Remember, get out and train and take a young person with you.
DVC,
Ken
