Hope Springs Eternal
While pondering the monthly newsletter, so many thoughts came to mind: the state of the world, Presidential Politics, Terrorism, And the price of gas . . . Some of the thoughts were near depressing.
But yesterday’s client changed the tone for me.
During a Ladies’ Pistol Class, a woman with a debilitating illness was back for another Gunsite Course. Her illness has progressed and she travels about in a mobility scooter. This did not deter her from enrolling again.
However, she learned that her challenges were a bit more than she anticipated and it worried her to slow the progress of the class and any safety issues that might occur. Rather than surrender to that, she had the Mind Set of a Gunsite Family member.
After consultation with Dave in the Office, a tutorial was arranged for her, including a variety of other pistols for her to work with. She spent the day with one of our outstanding staff members on the North Range, facing the (unusually) cool weather and very brisk winds (including some snowflakes), and shot all day. Moreover, she is back today for a brief tutorial in the AR system also.
When we see in the media the many folks who think they face adversity and expect the government to solve all their perceived problems, it sometimes makes us have a pessimistic attitude. But our Gunsite family member and client yesterday re-set my compass and made me remember that the media uses stories that sell advertising and her story won’t. Our Republic is full of perseverant, good people that work hard every day, facing adversity and finding ways to overcome it. Sandra: Thanks for your Mind Set. Raven Decals now adorn her mobility Scooter.
Now, as Col. Cooper was like to say: “Let’s get on with the war.”
We have had a grand Spring at the Gunsite Ranch: the new Citizen Response to Active Shooter (With Fox News here), Seasoned Citizen 250 Pistol, Emergency Medical, Media and Industry events and more. At several points this month, all the square ranges were in use! April brings more than Spring Flowers: Another 250 Pistol Class at the Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond VA, Close Quarters Pistol, Edged Weapons, Team Tactics for Two, the 123 Carbine Class in Central Indiana, the Special Event with Steve Tarani, Chris White and Rob Leatham and more . . . .
Do you need a one day tune up of your Pistol or Carbine skills? We have Carbine Range Day on April 9 and Pistol Range Day on April 23. Spend the day with a Gunsite Rangemaster re-visiting the basics and more.
You can keep track of our daily events, new courses and updates to courses, etc. by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We post regularly about events happening in the world as well as at Gunsite.
A new client and Gunsite Family Member has come to us to suggest an addition to the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation (JCLF) and made a generous first donation. The proposal is for a partial scholarship opportunity for a Youth to attend the Youth 250 Course. (the JCLF is a tax deductible charitable organization.) If you have a Youth (12-16) who would benefit from this, (or wish to help support this endeavor) please contact Jane Anne Shimizu at Gunsite for further details. All the details are not in place just yet, but should be very soon. The Gunsite family is a wonderful group of like-minded people.
The Gunsite 40th Anniversary Gunsite Alumni Shoot planning is at full tilt. If you hope to attend, Please Enroll Now! We are near the cut-off point for registrants. you don’t want to miss this grand celebration. Our partners in the industry (Colt, Mossberg, Smith & Wesson, Leupold and more) have provided more prizes than ever before. The Gunsite Rangemasters are even more devious. Also, if you have not heard, Ed Stock and Chris Weare have announced that this year will be their “Sunset Cruise.” so, this GAS Match may be the last chance for you to experience “The best 5 minutes of your life with Ed and Chris.” Contact Karen ASAP to enroll.
On a closing note, remember we have the Youth 250 Course June 20-24. Are you looking for the best summer camp experience your 12-16 year old can have? We offer a discount if you attend the 250 Pistol or Defensive 3 Gun running concurrent. Let’s see that essay: “What I did on my summer vacation.”
