It seems we just had the Gunsite Alumni Shoot (GAS Match) about two weeks ago and now we are through Thanksgiving and on the home stretch to Christmas.
We hope your Thanksgiving celebrations were grand, full of family and friendships and good food.
Construction Update – Earthwork to the west increasing the student parking and preparation for another classroom between the new bathrooms and the road to the Ranges. (Harm’s Way) The mandatory neighborhood meeting prior to a Zoning Meeting with a request to update Gunsite zoning was last Saturday. Neighbors did not remonstrate, had good questions and now we go to the next phase. Work continues!
The world continues to be “Another Country” as Jeff Cooper coined. There is so much danger around the world and in many US locations. We remind you to follow the Color Code and the Principles of Personal Defense. (When did you last re-read PPD?)
Remember the Captain in “Cool Hand Luke?” “Luke – You’ve gotta get your mind right.”
Danger lurks, but if you are alert and aware while shopping, traveling, at home, at work, your chances of being a victim are greatly reduced. Furthermore, your chances of winning and surviving a lethal encounter are much greater. (Surviving is often a byproduct of winning.)
The new Gunsite Pro Shop Website went live just prior to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As with any other IT project I’ve ever been involved with, it had some issues. As a result of the glitches, we kept the Black Friday sales open a few extra days. Don’t be despondent that you missed these sales as December sales will continue fast and furious. We are several days into the Twelve Days of Christmas Sale! Follow us on social media and Gunsite.com to learn about the sales.
Gift certificates are available online, easy shopping! If your fortunate recipient acts quickly and enrolls prior to December 31, they will receive 2023 tuition pricing!
Let’s talk briefly about the 2024 schedule in general. Many folks are taking advantage of the discount by enrolling in regular classes in 2023 for 2024 and saving a tuition increase. So much so that some classes are near full already and we are trying to double them. I can’t encourage you enough to enroll if you are locked into dates so you can get the class you want. (“When are you coming to Gunsite?”)
The 3rd Pat Rogers Memorial Revolver Round-Up was another raging success. Near 100 shooters and aficionados of the wheel gun attended. There were multiple symposiums throughout the 3 days of training, including a night shoot and live-fire shoot house. If you have any thought of attending in 2024, please consider enrolling soon as we are over 50% full now.
Look for the photos of the “Gingerbread Gunsite” made by Gunsite Family Member Susan Cohen and Pro Shop Manager Lindy Walters. While the judges in the contest did not send love our way, we know how spectacular their work is. Thanks to Susan and Lindy for all their hard work.
The Gunsite staff and instructors wish all the Gunsite family members a glorious Christmas and Chanukah. Celebrate all the while remembering why we celebrate. Remember those who are serving (Military, Police, Fire, EMS, and others) during the holidays that cannot be with their families.
Blessings to all,
Ken
