John retired from Tennessee law enforcement as a lieutenant after 29 years of service. He served as a patrol officer and supervisor, field training officer, tactical team member and commander, department training officer, armorer and less lethal weapons instructor. While serving as chief firearms instructor and rangemaster for over a decade he was responsible for development and conduct of all department firearms training and daily operations of the pistol /rifle range, shoot house and indoor computer training simulator. He also developed and implemented the department’s active shooter response training. John served in the US Army with 21 years of service in the active, national guard and reserve component as an infantryman and MP. He retired as a master sergeant and served in OEF and OIF. He joined the Gunsite staff in 2021.
