LABOR DAY, 2022
The traditional end of summer is upon us. The summer monsoons have blessed the Gunsite Ranch in the high desert and foliage is unusually green. There are more caterpillars than we recall ever seeing (Just waiting for the large moths they turn into) and the tarantulas are beginning their mating season. What are we missing? More Gunsite Family!
If you have not enrolled in the Gunsite Alumni Shoot (GAS Match) on October 1, while it is not officially closed, it will be within days. We increased the competitors to 250 this year. (We are gearing up for a huge number in 2026 for the 50th Anniversary.) The prize table will again be spectacular. The side-matches have more guns (and more sponsors) than ever before. Remember to bring cash for the pistol, rifle, and shotgun side matches. Fun items in the auction of Gunsite memorabilia as well. There will even be an opportunity to win suppressors! Remember that all the great Gunsite instructors volunteer their time and travel for this event and all proceeds go to the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation (501c3) and the Yavapai County Friends of the NRA.
We close August with Ballistic Response Against Violent Encounters (BRAVE) and Seasoned Citizen Shotgun. September starts in high gear with a 150 Pistol, Tactical Medicine, two (2) 250 Pistol Courses, 223 Carbine, Tactical Concealed Carry Pistol (TCCP), a private Church Defense Course and the winners of the Noser/Scheel’s Sweepstakes private course. (That is just the first week of September!)
September carries on with 350 Revolver, the new TCCP – 3 Gun, 556 Advanced Carbine, Close Quarters Pistol (CQP) and many private and media events. We also are proud to again host the Young Marines for their firearms day with Lt. Col. Freddie Blish (Ret.) as their Rangemaster. That gets us up to the legendary “Knuckleheads” course and the double 250 Pistol and double 350 Pistol preceding GAS on October 1.
September will fly by at a record pace. We hope you will be one of the many folks at the Gunsite Ranch. (Ahem . . . “When are you coming to Gunsite?”)
We are also coming upon an important election in November. Please research the candidates and make a wise choice for those who claim they will represent your beliefs in their respective office. The Republic may be in a significant turning point if some policies are furthered and advanced. Do your due diligence as you prepare to cast your educated ballot.
Finally, the 2023 Gunsite Training Calendar is on the website. The paper calendar will be back from the printer for GAS Match and mailing will begin after that. If you enroll in a 2023 class prior to January 1, 2023, you avoid the increase in tuition for 2023.
Enough for now. It is afternoon on a hot day and there are Family Members looking for my vehicle to arrive with a treat! If you are a Family Member, you know what I am speaking of.
Looking forward to seeing you (back) at Gunsite.
DVC,
Ken
