Weather!
February certainly went out like a lion and March came in with the residual snow. We had about 17” of snow for the 270 Rifle class the end of February and it made the 260 class the following week interesting in the deep snow and then the sloppy conditions. (We do appreciate the moisture and we weathered through it all.) As I said to the classes, you remember the days you trained hard in adversity much more than the easy days.
The leftists and socialists continue attacks against our way of life, the Constitution and Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment. As I sat in church yesterday and listened to the sermon and comments about evangelism, it made me think of what we should be doing. Are you an evangelist for our Constitution? Can you speak politely and professionally, not ranting and raving like our opponents, and provide history and facts about gun ownership and what “unalienable rights” are? Can you answer the question politely, sensibly and factually from friends: “Why do you carry a gun?” Have you offered to take the non-shooters out for a lesson with firearms? If you do, are you not taking something with great recoil that intimidates that new shooter? There is so much we can and need to do to educate those in our social circles so all the information they receive is not from the mainstream media. We all recognize that the mainstream media has an anti-gun agenda and will use their “journalistic license” to make their facts fit their agenda. It is time for you to read up on our Constitutional history, read up on the interpretations of the Constitution by the Supreme Court (The Heller decision for example), read John Lott (http://johnrlott.blogspot.com/) and others. This will allow you a factual basis for polite adult discussion and an ability to better respond to the screeching by the socialists when confronted with the facts.
Now, what’s going on at Gunsite?
This week we have another of our popular Seasoned Citizen 250 Pistol courses underway. For those of you with a few more miles on your hips, knees and joints, this is the course for you. It is not a “dumbed down” 250 but designed around a more senior body and how they are apt to fight.
We also have noted tactical and search and rescue tracker David Scott-Donelan offering his Tactical Tracking Course. This course is fruitful for those in public safety, search and rescue and I’ve used it hunting. David is one of the best in the world and will be back at Gunsite later this year.
The season really kicks off next week with a double 250 Pistol course, a CCW course, and a Private Scout Rifle Course. It is not too late to enroll for the 350, Battle Rifle (with Walt Wilkinson and Cory Trapp) or the 499 Pistol later in March. Our friends with Guns and Ammo TV are back filming for another season, numerous tutorials, a private Team Tactics and a Mossberg industry event. April is even busier!
Speaking of Team Tactics, we are working on the 2020 training calendar. If you have an interest in a Team Tactics for Two Course, send an email to Hartman@gunsite.com. You also might offer up your preference for dates. We can’t promise anything but want some input. Other considerations for 2020 is a Seasoned Citizen 350 and a Seasoned Citizen Advanced Carbine. The Nashville TN, Richmond VA and Colorado 250 Off Site Pistol classes are filling (or filled!). If you are interested in not traveling far from home, look to those off-site locations.
We also have several opportunities for three (3) day training opportunities. Lebanon IN is hosting a 123 Carbine Class April 12-14. There is still room in the class. Lebanon is just off I65 a few miles north of Indianapolis. The 150 Pistol Course is available in July.
South Carolina has a 150 Pistol and 123 Carbine in August and September and The Firearms Academy of Seattle has another 150 Pistol in August. Take advantage of these great opportunities with Gunsite to get a solid foundation in your shooting or get a great refresher.
