The Rainy Season!
The blessed rains have finally arrived in the high desert. We aren’t shy to say that things were worrisome during the drought. Fire watch was a priority for all hands and we were successful. A campground just isn’t the same without a campfire or charcoal cooked burgers and steaks. The pop-up afternoon thunderstorms washed out the Donga culverts again, but our great maintenance staff can handle that. Classes weren’t interrupted too much with the rains either. The “green” is a welcome sight.
The long-awaited 2019 calendars are in hand! They will be mailed in early September. If you need one earlier go to the website and submit a request. Who might be featured in the photos this year? Is it you?
Our friends with Gun Stories television show are making their annual trek to Gunsite for a season’s worth of filming. It is fascinating to see the hours of work they must do for a few minutes of actual viewing. What a great bunch of guys.
The August 250 is nearing full, the Colorado 150 Pistol is filling, the Washington 150 is going to happen, another US Congressman is sending himself and staff to a private course and the Well-Armed Women are returning for their instructor course! Whew . . . . I forgot to mention the near full two (2) day Tactical Medicine Class. August is normally a slower month for us as folks think it is too hot. I guess the secret is out that we aren’t that hot at 5000’.
Are you a fledgling artist/shirt designer? We are looking for new designs for a Gunsite shirt (or coffee mug). Send your artwork to Jane Anne (sandi@gunsite.com). We are looking for artwork, and not just quotes. There is a prize of $100 Pro Shop credit for the winner!
Have you made your GAS Match plans yet? October 6 is just around the corner. We did some meticulous planning and added an additional 350 Pistol Course preceding GAS. (Were you one of the many asking for us to do that?) What a great way to get tuned up to win the GAS Match and Cooper Cup!
Remember to (re)read your copy of Principles of Personal Defense if you have not done so recently. Keeping your mind ready is paramount.
Hope to see you (back) at Gunsite.
