After months of planning and hours of meetings, Gunsite’s 40th Anniversary Celebration is upon us. A tremendous amount of effort is being expended to make this GAS a huge success.
October 1st’s GAS will be the biggest Gunsite Alumni Shoot EVER. We anticipate 250 participants (plus family) instructors, staff and our great volunteers. We look forward to our annual “Family Reunion.”
Latecomers: Sorry, but GAS has been sold out for months!
We’ll have a HUGE crowd of shooters for our 40th Anniversary GAS. As always, parking will be restricted to the campground beginning on Friday afternoon. Shuttles to the Registration Area will operate Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
We will provide handicapped parking for those with a valid permit or handicapped plates in a small area near the maintenance barn. Please be a thoughtful Gunsite Family Member and honor the parking restrictions.
A 40’ X 100’ tent is being erected for GAS in the topside parking lot. Therefore parking there will be available ONLY to students of our 250 and 350 classes who will graduate that Friday.
GAS Registration
Registration will be in the tent Friday afternoon beginning at 1500 and again Saturday morning at 0600.
On Saturday morning, a local veterans group will be offering pastries for sale to support their services. Please support them. We will provide coffee.
Our Shooters meeting will begin in the tent with the Pledge of Allegiance (We STAND for the Pledge at Gunsite!) promptly at 0730. The Match itself will begin downrange promptly at 0800.
Lunch will be from 1130 -1300, with all ranges “cold” from 1200-1300.
There will be stages and side matches set on nearly every range we have at Gunsite. We have more guns than ever to award!
[Remember: If you win more than one (1) gun in a side-match, you choose one (1) gun. Second place in that stage or event then wins the other gun. You get the glory, but only one (1) gun!) The middle shooter wins the stainless Colt Gunsite Service Pistol. ]
Pre-Dinner events will begin at 1700 in the tent with an auction of Gunsite Memorabilia.
One of the prized items is an all leather Office Waste Can, hand made by Milt Sparks and given to the Coopers. It has a large Raven, DVC and 1976 embossed on it. All proceeds from the auction will go the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation, a 501(3)c organization which awards Gunsite classes to deserving folks. Janelle Cooper and Lindy Wisdom are doing the Lord’s work in this endeavor. Please help support this worthy cause.
The late Pat Rogers (Gunsite Rangemaster, NYPD Detective and Marine) was an avid reader with a concentration in firearms and military history. Portions of his library will be available for donations to the Cooper Legacy Foundation. Please be generous with your donations for these books.
In conjunction with Colt, we will be auctioning a limited edition Colt 1911 Folds of Honor Pistol with proceeds to Folds of Honor. It is a beautiful 1911 with special engraving and beautiful stocks. Thanks Colt!
Our friends at Kimber have also commissioned a custom engraved 1911 celebrating our 40th Anniversary. It will be auctioned with the proceeds to the Cooper Legacy Foundation as well. Thanks Kimber!
In the Pro Shop we are raffling a Dave Lauck custom 1911 Pistol and Eric Little Leather – a $5000 value. The drawing will be after dinner during the Awards Ceremony. You need not be present to win this pistol. All proceeds from this raffle will go to the Jeff Cooper Legacy Foundation. To purchase a ticket before the event send a check made out to The Cooper Legacy Foundation and send to Gunsite. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100.
Dinner WILL begin at 1730. Dinner WILL NOT be served early, because some missed their meal last year. So, don’t ask the caterer to serve early or we will have you skinned and left for the javelinas.
Following Dinner, the Award ceremonies will begin.
